On Sunday, 18 February, we had the pleasure of hosting two fellow clubs in the southern Perth corridor. The teams from Rockingham and Mandurah came to play with us in all categories.
We had a terrific turnout from the very youngest playing flippaball, to teens (juniors) and seniors who all played proper, timed and scored games for mixed male and female times for the first time ever at Cockburn ARC!
Apart from witnessing this milestone, it was great to see the terrific good will and willingness of our three clubs to work together to increase participation in this beautiful game of ours. But one of the sweetest sights were the juniors from both sides, who after playing their proper games kept training and having fun. Lots of laughter (and legwork!) in the ‘hook ball’ shown in the photos below.
While scoffing down the BBQ sausages that teased us smelling poolside during the games, we all agreed that events like this should become a lot more regular. We are certain they will, in our ‘corridor’ and beyond, very soon.
A big public ‘thank you’ to our friends in Mandurah and Rockingham for coming to ARC today. And too all our players and supporters – this is just the start!
